Workshop Facilitation
I run workshops for parents or teenagers which explore neurodiversity and language in a creative, strengths-focused way. Providing a mixture of education and focus on day-to-day strategies for communication, attention, emotional regulation and friendship. These workshops are especially suited to people with Autism, Dyspraxia and ADHD.
Reach out about a project, collaboration or just to say hey!
My Approach
These workshops are deliberately flexible and personalised, as they are designed for people or organisations who have needs which may not be fully met in more medical or structured settings. Here are some things we typically discuss:
Neurodiversity in Context
We discuss how we came to label some people as neurodiverse, and why it matters. Not everyone keeps the label after diagnosis; and that is ok.
Attention
I provide strategies for how to maintain attention and support focus in an increasingly digital world, discussing the benefits of soft and voluntary focus.
Emotional Regulation
We discuss emotional regulation strategies particularly in reference to ADHD and autism. These can be used as a group or individual.
Creativity and Language
Creativity inspires langauge. We can discuss how flexible, sensory and experimental tasks can lead to more meaningful communication.
Confidence and Self Esteem
With communication, sometimes confidence is half the battle. We discuss why we can all be more confident when communicating with each other, and with children.
Friendship
Neurodiverse friendships can be both wonderful and challenging. Whether for yourself or your child, we can discuss strategies to create meangingful friendships.
Quality Matters
I understand the cost involved in seeking support for individuals and families. Therefore I only take on clients whose needs I am confident I can support. For this reason, I do not offer therapy in certain areas including:
High tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Eating, drinking and swallowing
Neurodegenerative disorders or post traumatic brain injury
